Single Level Living in Luxury

The success of the Judel Vrolijk yachts on the race course and Bill Dixon’s super yacht custom design experience make the 54 Deck Saloon a fast and spacious cruiser for sailing around the world.  Bringing together some of the key elements of motor yachts, catamarans and monohull cruisers in a way that makes this Deck Saloon a very unique and appealing yacht.  Even if you’re short on crew, the design is for easy sailing. Moody’s trademark twin helm positions, the self tacking head sail integrated into deck, electronic engine control at starboard helm station and 2 electric winches in cockpit make it all possible.  The single rudder Jefa steering, a world leader in mechanical steering systems, makes the 54 a dream to helm. This is a safe and seaworthy yacht for the sailor wanting robust performance and true one level living in a blue water cruiser.

The concept of Calypso Expeditions came about over a chat and coffee between two old friends. Rick Assender and Andy Fairclough talked of a desire to open up the world of luxury cruising in idyllic destinations for everyone. And decided that they could do this if they bought a yacht in Europe, sailed it back to Australia and sold passages along the way. Great idea…But first they needed the perfect yacht! Enter the Moody 54 DS and a test sail out on Pittwater.

“It was a beautiful day, the Moody sailed beautifully…and I instantly fell in love with this great boat.” says Rick
