Hanse 495 owner Nick Robson is relatively new to sailing.

Nick was a power boat owner for many years but couldn’t get the family interested. After some sailing lessons Nick saw the light and checked out new yachts for sale.

His first yacht was a Hanse 430 and with the help of Team Windcraft’s technical sailing advisor Ric Hawkins the Robson family were quickly enjoying great times on the water in their new yacht.

After a couple of years Nick got ‘foots disease’ and after lengthy chats with the Windcraft Team decided a new Hanse 495 would give him and the family more space while they were out on the water.

Nick describes his new yacht as ‘incredibly easy to sail’ – in fact he’s only ever really been out with 2 or 3 people and each time they’ve had no problem handling the boat.

Of course the self-tacking headsail and the fact that all lines lead aft have helped enormously.

Nick’s also had some fun with this luxury yacht – he’s called her ‘Phantom’ and the gennaker has a great Phantom picture on it.
