Comparing Yachts for Sale?
Check out Team Windcraft's Commissioning Process
Are all yachts for sale commissioned to the same standard?
Team Windcraft have commissioned over 200 Hanse Group yachts.
That's a lot of yachts... and a lot of experience.
Hanse Group yachts are built and engineered in Germany and transported to Australia by ship.
They arrive at our marina carefully wrapped up on a low-loader.
It's important to realise that the key parts to any yacht the keel, mast and steering are not together when your yacht arrives in Sydney.
The keel is not on.
The mast is not in place.
The rudder is not in.
And the steering is not connected.
So Team Windcraft are responsible for assembling the most important parts of your yacht.
We pride ourselves on attention to detail at all levels.
There's two parts to this.
Attention to the detail you can't see - like the way the hull and keel join is done and the alignment of the rudder and steering system.
And attention to detail you do see - like checking all the fittings and fixtures are neatly installed and finished.
Allan Bridge our Service Centre Manager oversees the commissioning of every one of our new yachts for sale.
'We learn from every boat' says Allan
'And we take that knowledge forward to the next one.
When the boat is finished we do a complete system check.
We ensure no detail is overlooked.
And we keep extensive records.
So for example if a customer phones me from Darwin with an issue with his water pump...
... I can tell the local labour every detail about that pump even down to the serial number.
Because we've commissioned so many yachts over such a long period we've developed great relationships with the best sub-contractors in the industry.
Many of these sub-contractors are on-site at Windcraft's head office here on Pittwater.
Something I always have in my mind is the fact that yachts have to cope with the harsh marine environment.
However hard we try there will be issues for us to get over.
It's wonderful to know we have the back up of a huge team of experts here at Bayview including of our own full-time shipwright Dave Griffin.
Of course the most rewarding part of the job for us is the handover.
It's fantastic to see the smiles on the new owners faces when we go out on the first test sail and they take the wheel'.
And once we hand over your new yacht?
You become part of the Windcraft family.
You can meet other Hanse Group owners and enjoy our social events like the Hanse Rally, Audi Race Week and Port Stephens sail away.
And our unrivalled service centre take care of your yacht and help you with the transition to yacht ownership.
From the point of handover our yacht service centre manager Nick Jones is your point of contact...
... and if Nick doesn't know the answer to your questions he can talk to someone on the marina who does.
